Time Warp

Freelance Whales – Generator

Three years after backpacking our way south of Mexico, we have since been living provinces apart. It isn’t always about what we say anymore, it’s that we’re saying something. A couple nights ago, lying on the cool floor long after the house had become quiet, I finally voiced my worries. On the other end of the line, she reminded me of who I am, of where I have come from, of how far the Lord has brought me. It’s what friends do: they remind us of our story when we lose perspective, and doubt.

We all doubt, she said. We’re supposed to. If we never doubted we’d also never be as confident. It’s the process of becoming surer, of checks and balances. Doubting, somehow, makes us more and not less.
